What Are the LD Series Waterproof Connectors?
The LD series waterproof connectors are field-wirable circular connectors that provide dust-tight, watertight termination for low- and medium-current applications up to 45 A. They are offered in two fundamental topologies:
- Wire-to-wire (in-line) assemblies, which join two cable ends for cable extension, repair and quick-disconnect applications.
- Wire-to-board connectors, which terminate cables at equipment panels, enclosures and chassis.
The wire-to-board versions are supplied in four configurations: a rear-mount male panel connector, a rear-mount female panel connector, and panel receptacles with either square-flange or oval-flange profiles. The flange designs provide positive locating against the mounting surface, simplify panel cut-out alignment, and allow the seal to be compressed evenly for a repeatable IP68 seal. The rear-mount arrangement lets installers fix the receptacle from the inside of the enclosure, keeping the live side protected while maintaining a clean, serviceable exterior.

The three model families are sized to match different cable diameters, conductor cross-sections and current demands across the series-wide range of 5 A to 45 A:

Engineering Features and Functional Benefits
Screw-clamp termination. Each contact is terminated with a screw terminal, so installers need no crimping tools, special dies or hydraulic presses. The screw clamp produces a strong, mechanically firm grip on solid or stranded conductors, permits field re-termination and repair, and holds its clamping force under thermal cycling and vibration. For maintenance teams working on-site, this translates into faster installation and lower tooling cost.
Threaded male–female coupling. The mating halves are secured by a precision thread rather than a push-in latch. The thread provides a high, consistent mating force, prevents accidental disconnection under vibration and shock, and compresses the sealing elements evenly — a prerequisite for a repeatable IP68 seal over hundreds of mating cycles.
IP68 ingress protection. Per IEC 60529, the first digit (6) guarantees complete protection against dust ingress, while the second digit (8) certifies protection against the effects of continuous immersion in water under the conditions specified by the manufacturer. The LD series is therefore suitable for outdoor, washdown, condensation-prone and periodically submerged environments where standard connectors would fail prematurely.
Nylon housing. The polyamide housing offers excellent electrical insulation, good mechanical strength and impact resistance, corrosion resistance against moisture and many industrial chemicals, and a lightweight profile that reduces strain on cables and enclosures.
Brass contacts. Contacts machined from brass — a copper–zinc alloy — combine good electrical conductivity with inherent corrosion resistance, ensuring stable contact resistance and dependable current transfer across the 5 A to 45 A operating window.
Wide electrical envelope. With 2 to 9 poles at 250 V, a single series covers both power circuits and low-voltage signal circuits, reducing the number of connector types a facility must stock.
